Work with Thorborg

· Martin Thorborg

Business help can mean anything from a free question on Amino to a confidential conversation where I spend time on your business. I get lots of emails from entrepreneurs, so I need some boundaries that let me both help and make my own day-to-day life work.

This video from September 2010 explains things to you if you’ve written asking whether I’d help with something business-related. Thanks for the email. I may well want to. Here, I explain the options I offer at that time.

Start by asking on Amino

The easiest option is to go on Amino and ask your question.

Perhaps you don’t need my time for your particular issue. Many others can help, and that’s precisely one reason I created Amino.

The number of people writing directly to me about their businesses has become so large I can’t manage to help everyone personally. But your question doesn’t need to stall because of that.

Asking on Amino doesn’t cost a penny, and I’m sure other entrepreneurs can provide good answers.

Free business help if others can benefit from the answer

If you want my answer, another option is letting me use the question in a podcast, video or another public format.

Then more people benefit from the time I spend answering. You get the answer, and others can learn from the same issue. That option costs nothing either.

But you need to send me the email again and write exactly what I may tell the outside world. No more, no less.

If your name or company name shouldn’t be included, leave it out of that text. Also say you want to remain anonymous. Of course, I’ll respect that.

I don’t want to hunt through a long email working out which information I can use and which I need to keep to myself. Make it clear from the start.

That way, you can define what’s made public yourself. And you need to accept that I may turn the question into a video or an ordinary podcast.

A confidential conversation focused on you

Perhaps you want my undivided attention, the subject needs to be confidential and you need more than five minutes.

Then we can speak one-to-one. In the video, I describe a Skype conversation, either directly on Skype or with me calling your phone. It can be with or without video.

First, you send an outline of what we’ll discuss. I want to make sure I’m the right person to help.

If I feel it isn’t something I can help with, we’ll find another solution. Perhaps I can refer you to someone else.

I spend around ten minutes familiarising myself with the outline. Then we arrange a time and talk for the roughly 50 minutes left in the hour.

I don’t worry much about going ten minutes over or a little under. The point is that I spend about an hour on you and try to help as well as I can.

The prices in the video are from 2010

For an hour of personal advice, I mention 3,500 kroner plus VAT. You can also buy two or three hours if needed.

I also mention the possibility of visiting the company when I come to Denmark and sitting down with you for three or four hours.

For that, I discuss a price between 15,000 and 25,000 kroner, depending on how much I need to do and how much preparation is required.

Those are the historical prices and options I discuss in September 2010. The video isn’t an updated price list or confirmation that the same offers still apply.

Choose the format that suits your question

So my suggestion in the video is to start with Amino if others can help. Or let me answer publicly if more people may benefit from the answer.

If you need a confidential, more thorough conversation, I describe personal advice as a third route. And the company meeting offers a chance to go even deeper.

It’s simply to give you some options. Then you can choose what fits your needs and get back to me. If you want to read about my own experiences of building businesses, you’ll find them in Iværksætter til jeg dør.
