Damn you Irene
Taking a break can sometimes be the best decision, even when you’re ready to put in the effort. I’m standing with my running shoes on and actually want to go for a run. But Hurricane Irene is out around the Bahamas, so I need to take a breath and think.
The video was recorded in Florida in August 2011. The discussion of the hurricane and Aminotastic describes the situation back then.
The running shoes were on, but Irene was coming
Sometimes you’re simply ready to get started. That applies both as an entrepreneur and as an ordinary person. In this moment, it’s the run I’m ready for.
In the recording, I say Irene is around 300 miles from us, out near the Bahamas, and we expect it to pass in the evening or at night. I describe it as category four and talk very dramatically about its strength. That’s my description during recording, not a current weather report.
I have to acknowledge that this probably isn’t the best day for that run. You can always run another day, as I also wrote in the video’s description.
Taking a break and looking at things again tomorrow
It makes me think about life as an entrepreneur. Sometimes things feel too hard and too difficult. Then taking a deep breath, going to bed and saying: We’ll look at it all again tomorrow can be a good idea. Also read Skab din egen succes about finding your own way, even when progress takes time.
We keep living and can take another round the next day. That’s the image I use. Right here, I have to admit I probably won’t get out for a run.
Then I could finish the talk
Instead, I can go upstairs and finish my talk for Aminotastic. I still need to read it through, deliver it to myself and polish it. That’s probably a bloody better use of the day.
