My name is Martin Thorborg and
I'm very glad you stopped by.
I founded the largest Danish
Internet Portal Jubii
with good friends back in 1995.
All 8 years
we were profitable, and we were turned down by several large
companies that initially wanted to buy us. When they learned that we didn't have a
burn rate, they turned us down. In their eyes we were unprofessional, isn't that a laugh?
:-))
In 2000 we sold Jubii
to Lycos Europe.
At that point we had 2.7 million monthly Unique visitors or 86% of the
Danish internet population (Gallup). In a Danish brand
survey Jubii came out as the second strongest brand in Denmark just after Coca
Cola. That was quite something when you realize our company was
only 5 years old and founded with no money.
I resigned the 31st of August 2003.
And those 3 years I worked with
viral marketing and company strategy for Lycos. My team made a couple of
Games, the largest being Fight
Club that within a year, got 8 million registered users
with more than 200 million games played.
The main part of the users came from friends recommending friends. I
love viral marketing :-))
Last year I
was one
of the main drivers of Lycos Europe's new company and brand strategy,
and that ended with a large road show all over Europe where we trained
the strategy with
Lego Serious
Play.
The last couple of years I have
given more than 150 speeches about leadership and entrepreneurship.
I also started the largest Danish Entrepreneur website
Amino. That is a kind of hobby
for me and my mission is to encourage more Danish entrepreneurs to
think big.
My main activity today is working with
SPAMfighter
a company I founded with good friends in late 2003. The goal is to drive all spammers out of business,
have fun and earn a lot of money. More than
1.3 million people from 209 nations are now protected by our solution and
the user base is growing every day. Recently we have won two large
tests. One in
Komputer, Scandinavias Largest PC-Magazine and one in
Computer Bild, which are the largest in Germany. So I guess some
quite big US competitors a crying right now :-)
In 2005 we started the company
SUPPORTfighter. The
mission is to make online support much more efficient. We have
succeeded in that and our clients typically save 75 % of their
support resources.
I know that this page makes me look quite
clever, but why spoil it by telling you about my failed ventures, naaaa I
wont :-))
Well, if you want to contact
me, don't hesitate to email me.
Have a fabulous day.
Best regards
